New roadside cake cupboard based on honesty box payments in York

This hidden gem in Rawcliffe is taking honesty boxes on the roadside to a whole new level!

Blonde Bakery has a cake cupboard full of goodies.

It’s an unmanned cake shop where you can select your treats from a menu changing weekly, consisting of Brownies, Blondies, Cookie Dough and lots more!

It’s run on an honesty payment system where you simply choose your treat and pay with either cash or card via QR code!

🕰️ Open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 10am- 8pm however unsurprisingly they’re selling out before this most days so get there early!

I absolutely love this idea and make sure to tell everyone you know 🧁 🎂 🍰

This restaurant has quickly become one of my favourites in York

Cavo has very quickly become of my favourite restaurants in York since it opened last summer as every single item on the menu never ceases to be anything other than complete and utter perfection. I can’t even choose one favourite dish from the new summer menu as it’s all glory for the taste buds. The combination of the tomato sauce served with the flat iron steak was heavenly and we could have eaten a whole loaf of this tomato bread, supposedly such a simple combination but so effective. Oh and also, Cavo how do you do it because I don’t even like corn but I liked these? And these Cavo chips are literally the best going, so crispy but soft at the same time and the seasoning is amazing. Thank you so much for existing Cavo, I can’t wait to try out the brunch menu.

YORK’S BEST NEW PUB

📍Old Grey Mare, Clifton

I FINALLY paid a visit to Brew York and Yuzu Street Food’s new love child in York and I am ✨obsessed✨

The interiors are stunning, and there’s tonnes of outside seating as well! Their beer garden is such a sub trap but it has a retractable roof perfect for those unpredictable weather days.

Brew York are offering up 18 lines of fresh craft beer as well as a rotating selection of seasonal pints.

And as per usual, Yuzu are offering up a FEAST and we tried some new menu items and old classics.

We were there on the May Bank holiday weekend and were lucky to see The Jazzville Duo doing a set (their music is the soundtrack to this video!)

Dog friendly, and very Food Voyager friendly. Big tick from me!

The new brunch and small plates spot in York with queues out the door

Since opening less than 2 months ago, Black Wheat Club on Fossgate has taken York by absolute storm.

As soon as I entered, I fell in love with the relaxed but quietly buzzing atmosphere. It describes itself as bakery and bistro serving in their words small batch plates, thoughtful plates and wine without the fuss.

Evening menu:

The menu was so good we struggled to choose what to get so we ordered a variety to share including this Black Wheat Club Sourdough to start with pickles. For mains we shared the 12 hour pork steak with a leek bbq sauce and the smash burger accompanied by what had to be our favourite dish, the black wheat club potatoes in a delicious creamed rosemary sauce with cheese and herbs. For dessert we tried the bread and butter pudding, using homemade butter ice cream. If you don’t fancy wine I highly recommend this homemade strawberry soda with an kick! Everything about our meal was amazing and I’ll definitely be back.

Brunch menu:

I love the atmosphere in Black Wheat Club so much, it’s calm but there’s always a nice level of chatter and I love chatting with the staff there.

What we got:

BWC spiced sausage morning bun

Goats cheese poached eggs

Chai latte (best I’ve had in York!!), apparently using Small Batch Coffee Roasters so must check this out!

Thornborough Cider

Also got a BWC loaf to take away so pleased I can continue the taste heaven of the bread at home!

So glad we nabbed a window seat as well! A lovely treat for my birthday 🎈

Must visit wine bar with views of York Minster

Me and the girls have recently started going for cheese board nights a couple of times a month and our latest one was at the stunning 22 yards opposite York Minster. It was a sunny evening at golden hour and was such a lovely spot inside and out sipping on some cocktails and people watching.

We had the most delicious spread of food including a charcuterie board, cheese board and this wild mushroom parfait and sourdough.

My favourites had to be the sausage roll and olives, they both tasted so fresh and I loved a little taste of where I grew up as well, with their delicious charcuterie produced by Cobble Lane Cured in Islington.

Add 22 Yards to your York list! 🧀 🥩 🍷 🍸
